Israel’s foreign ministry has accused the New York mayor, Zohran Mamdani, of pouring “antisemitic gasoline on an open fire” after he reversed a recent order by the outgoing mayor, Eric Adams.

“On his very first day as @NYCMayor, Mamdani shows his true face: he scraps the IHRA definition of antisemitism and lifts restrictions on boycotting Israel. This isn’t leadership. It’s antisemitic gasoline on an open fire,” the foreign ministry said in a post on X.

Mamdani revoked an Adams-era order that adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism, which the previous administration said included “demonizing Israel and holding it to double standards as forms of contemporary antisemitism”.

Israel’s response came hours after Mamdani issued an order to rescind all executive orders that Adams issued after he was indicted on federal corruption charges in 2024 – charges that were later, controversially, dropped.

It's clear why they want to but why are our news outlets amplifying their messages. They shouldn't be

but why are our news outlets amplifying their messages. They shouldn’t be

Because "our" "news" outlets are owned by the same people who funded the opposition to Mamdani in the first place.

The Guardian, which isn't a US site, highlighting Israel's misdirection and dishonesty

“our news outlets amplifying their messages”

Ah yes. Well noticed there, gewd jerb.

I know they are a uk based news outlet but they are popular here and market to Americans like they expect us to read it and they still aren't Israeli so what's your point?

Also it not just this paper reporting this crap it's nonstop.

Oh no! A UK-based news outlet dares to write about things happening outside of the UK, unlike every other news outlet in the world. And they've become popular in the US, how dare they! This definitely means they're ‘our’ US news site, like every cowardly and duplicitous US news outlet, which is all of them.

And they're also still ‘aren't Israeli’, whatever the fuck that means despite The Guardian consistently criticising Israel's attempts at the inflammatory foreign policy and comments, and you being deliberately blind to all of that. So what does your incoherent drivel mean?
