The real stories this year are in the west, the Central is going to be a gauntlet this year come playoffs with Dallas, Minnesota and especially Colorado looking head and shoulders above everyone else this year.
Meanwhile the Jets have collapsed. In 2 years they've gone from bonafide Cup contender to bottom of the league.
Yeah, I'm a little surprised to see the Jets at the bottom of the league. What happened?!
Hellebyuck has been hiding a lot of problems in the roster for years. When you lead the league in SV%, GAA and SOs you can get away with a lot. Since he's been out for a decent chunk of games so far this year it's exposed a lot of their weaknesses.
It's similar to Demko and the Canucks of the last few years, having a top calibre goaltender makes you look better than you should and if management gets fooled into thinking the same thing you end up in this situation.
Interesting. Reminds me of the old Caps - no defense, just outscore them to win games. Then came the post season...
