I'm currently washing YL's school uniforms so I can donate them to the MS Society which are happy to take everything. Some of the dresses and pants I've done a marvellous job of hemming. I've seen some horrendous hemming on uniforms that stick out like dogs balls. I'll also wash the woollen jumper and de-ball it and wait for a nice day to wash the jackets. I will not soak the shirts nor iron anything.
As an non OP shopper, am I too anal or not doing enough?
I always wash things before donating if they’re not new, I don’t iron
I launder things then drop them off, assuming they're in good nick. Mostly clothes I find in the park from cars that've been stolen elsewhere and rifled through near me.

Yep. Fancy car stolen from fancy area, drive to shitty area, toss car in the park at night, take car elsewhere I guess, maybe chop shop. I've found a bunch of nice stuff on the morning dog walk.
I do the same as you, washed and folded. Check for stains (don’t forget the underarms), missing buttons, holes etc. If anything’s wrong with it I bin it. I know I could attempt to repair things but I also know it would sit in a pile forever waiting for me to do it. There’s no shortage of clothes in the op shops so some things just need to go in the bin. (None of my clothes are designer or valuable in any way). I don’t buy much from op shops, but if I do I always wash before using.
If donating uniforms, I'd make them so that a reasonable person could at least try them on to ascertain the fit. I would iron them all where appropriate, including the jackets. Collars and cuffs only on the shirts. Soaking is probably going too far.
I get what you're saying but here's the reason I'm not gonna iron. If I was to purchase say a dress, I would wash it when I got home anyway regardless of how it looked in the shop so ironing is pointless.
If someone purchases a dress and doesn't atleast wash it before wearing then they probably don't iron either so why should I?
My only beef with this is - why buy a garment if you don't know if it will fit? I would still wash it when I got it home, but I would hope to have some idea if the garment was going to fit me or I wouldn't buy it in the first place. The fit can change fairly dramatically between ironed and un-ironed - particularly the set over the shoulders, and sleeve length, so I would recommend at least basic ironing.
What if you don't iron clothes anyway though 🤔
My own clothes - I don't. But items to donate I'll give them a touch up for the above reasons. The charity may or may not have an iron or pressing facilities or may not be willing to do it.
