I don't envy western propagandists right now. They basically have to find a way to convince people that Russia is the real threat while the US is actively attacking other western countries economically, and now possibly militarily. The whole narrative that Europe needs the US to keep it safe from Russia while the US is actively asking for a pound of flesh from Europe doesn't exactly sell itself.

It also doesn't help that Europe heavily played up the "territorial integrity" argument to justify why they so staunchly support Ukraine and oppose Russia. Of course, shameless hypocrisy is nothing new for them, but it's still a terrible look politically.

That's a great point too actually, literally every single thing they said about Russia applies to this situation. I really can't see how current European regimes are going to survive long at this point. People have no problem ignoring the hypocrisy as long as it's not hitting their bottom line. But the war is causing the standard of living to plummet in Europe, and that makes people are lot more politically engaged cause all of a sudden they have skin in the game.

I'm surprised nobody (to my knowledge) had pulled the "Trump is a Russian agent" card. Why does Trump behave like ~~pretty much every other potus~~ warmongering asshole? Why, he's just Russian! Case closed, mental contradiction resolved

I guess that conspiracy theory isn't convenient in Europe right now since there's so much dependence on military aid from the US to keep the proxy war going. Saying that the US is in cahoots with Russia might get people wondering why Europe is bending over backwards for the US so much.

Good point, I haven't considered that

It's not something that is circulated in mainstream propaganda at all, but I've personally heard this point made by common people here in Italy who still drink propaganda but are starting to struggle with the contradictions.

How do they handle the contradictions?
