I’ve been wondering about this since I saw it—they had to have filmed that a year or longer ago, and it feels obvious that the Penn character is a send up of bovino, but personally I wasn’t aware of him until this year… one more point in favor of how great that movie is.

Heard. It's a well made movie, but not necessarily one I would recommend. It has the aesthetics of being leftist, while kinda shitting on leftists. I would actually recommend the Running Man remake tbh.

personally I'm fine with relatively tame ribbing of the left / portrayal of lefty figures as dweebs or occasionally inept in the context of a movie whose antagonists are unmistakably right-wing white supremacist pervert murderer scumbags.

I feel like that has more to do with the need to map the Freseni stand-in to a realistic character that also allows for the commentary on right-wing racial and humiliation fetish stuff more than anything tbh
