People still eat in McDonald's?

Edit: to clarify, I'm specifically talking about people sitting inside the restaurant to eat.

[–] dependencyinjection@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Obviously, otherwise why would they still exist.

[–] TheGiantKorean@lemmy.today 2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

In, not at. I see people go through the drive throughs all the time, but I don't see people sitting inside to eat.

Ah my bad dude. Poor reading comprehension.

FWIW I see McDs around me in Manchester, UK packed with people all the time. Seems people have a higher tolerance for price increases than me.

I used to eat McD when it was reasonable price for trash food which was convenient and fast. Now you can eat better food for the same price. Plus it’s all self service and you have to practically beg to find someone for salt or napkins. Greedy fuckers.

I remember two pies for a dollar (usd, late 1990s). My family realized this was VERY cheap roadtrip breakfast and we quickly got sick of them on that roadtrip. You can only eat so many of 10 dollars worth of pies once or twice. I still remember following that up with stopping at a grocery store and buying a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk and thinking "REAL FOOD"

Road trip pies sound amazing. Remember when they were fried? So good.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

what the FUCK? WERE they???

...*blinks*

Oh my god they DID used to be. Woah memory unlocked.

Jesus Christ the old people were right. Oh..... Oh noooo.....

[–] TheGiantKorean@lemmy.today 2 points 2 weeks ago

Oh yes, yes they were. And they were fucking glorious.

[–] TheGiantKorean@lemmy.today 2 points 2 weeks ago

All good! I can see why it read the way it did initially.

Maybe it's different depending on where you are. Here in the US in Atlanta, GA fast food places are largely empty with a few exceptions.

Yeah they are greedy as hell. It's expensive to eat out in general now (moreso than it was).

[–] unrealMinotaur@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 weeks ago

Yes, there are people who don't own cars that eat fast food.

drive through coffee, faster than starbucks. that's hallf their business in this town

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Woah, coffee gets worse than Starbucks...?

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

no, their pourover is better. it's not burnt

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I VERY seriously doubt McDonald's is doing pourovers. Do you just mean filter coffee, rather than espresso?

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

yeah, probably that. i am bad at my terminology.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's okay, coffee is delicious but silly and slightly pretentious. I've just been learning to make espresso lately and it's..... A bit silly and slightly pretentious.

I'm American, but last time I tried McDonald's coffee, I couldn't even drink it, it was so bad. Starbucks is at least consumable, even if watery and burnt.

The trick I've learned in the past couple months is that coffee is actually really sensitive, and so both goes bad quickly AND burns way easier than most people know. Most people are drinking stale, burnt coffee, and think that's what coffee is, it's wild.

Oh see I am a food snob but only about a few specific things. Coffee I am a "if it is coffee I like it" type person. Gas station is good enough.

That being said, my local coffee shop is amazing I am so lucky
