I don’t understand why these territories that are so scared of the LGBTQ+ don’t just wall themselves up and hide from the scary well-adjusted and happy people they fear so much.

Russia would be North Korea if but they have to make trade with like-minded countries and vassal states if only to prop up its economy heavily focused on crushing Ukraine.

Yeah, extremely deep-seated conservatism. For one, the patriarch Kirill is a hardcore creator of his interpretation of the Orthodox Church, where they all believe Moscow is the "Third Rome" and, like Iran, the supposed democracy and liberalism of United States and the West in general are the devil and must be destroyed.
