I haven't read the manga, but I know of how it ends. (At this point, who doesn't?!)

Now that we see Kamiki Hikaru (plus how similar father and son are as pointed out by Akane) it got me thinking:

manga spoiler

the ending is poetic as it is, having Aqua fall to his death like in his past life.

But do you know how it can be even more poetic? If Aqua murders his father, then for whatever reason (maybe the trauma warped his mind; I bet Hikaru had his share of trauma too) take on his father's role. Then he would become the new villain ruining multiple girls' lives, possibly starting with the members of B Komachi + Akane.

Now that would be a twist (which is not a new idea really).

Also, dude's name is one syllable away from a girl's in Medalist💀In fact, it feels like said girl can fit in in Oshi no Ko.

I think your proposed alternate ending is actually really similar in spirit to the actual ending. A major theme of this series is how much "the industry" basically grinds these people up and spits them out, a broken version of themselves. The series ends, in broad strokes, the same place it began. So, having Aqua turn out like that still would work with the theme I think.
