Don't underestimate how disasterous that last debate was for Biden. For many Americans, their last impression of him was a doddering fool who was up past his bedtime. I suspect that if he hadn't run for a second term, but didn't change anything else, he would be remembered better.
Yeah, gift wrapping the country for fascists and being proud you did your best did not endear him to me at least. He's not worse than Trump by any measure, but he is very responsible for us having Trump again
The pity is that he didn't make any major errors in actual governing. As opposed to Trump who is running the whole country into the ground with daily scandals.
He did. Chief amongst them rolling out the red carpet for the fascist takeover by slow walking almost all the investigation into the Mango Mussolini and his crime network and doing his very best to get back to the same status quo politics that resulted in the FIRST Trumpian infestation of the white house.
That's true. Tangerine Palpatine should have been in jail by the end of Biden's term. But Biden believed in an independent DOJ, which is how the government is meant to function.
There's believing in an independent DOJ, and then there's appointing fucking Merrick "conservative in the original sense of the word to the extreme AND a moderate Republican" Garland as AG.
The only worse choice for AG would have been someone like Aileen Cannon or a literal Republican politician.
Yeah that was always my fear from the start with Biden, that he was more like a Reagan Republican than a true liberal. He actually beat my extremely low expectations in that regard.
Yeah, I guess when you combine the helpful Murc's Law Media that is there to capture the vibey narrative for the low-info and the people that are paying the least bit of attention, along with the conspiracy theory/Epstein Class media that is there to capture the people on the far margins, I could see how these kinds of numbers happen.
As a for instance, the thing about Biden smelling hair - I still see the right wing talking about that, even right now, as their AG is sitting there and covering up for the Epstein Class. That kind of thing, along with Hunter Biden's ~~hard drive~~, oops, I mean "laptop", and nonsense narratives like Pizzagate/Qanon seemingly has completely captured approximately 30-35% of the country, also known as the Sarah Palin Floor of the population. That set of people has been trained to feel Biden and Obama (and Clinton) were the worst thing to ever happen to America.
They used a speech jammer on him because he said he was going to tax the rich. Literally right after he said that his entire party flooded the news stations with hate for him. Right after the debate they interviewed him and he was perfectly fine.
Speech jammer? Really?
I think their tinfoil hat might be on too tight..
