Sounds like everyone who is not MAGA needs to buy a MAGA hat, wear it on the day, then vote however you want. If questioned just say you are voting to make america great again and you are doing your best to make sure corrupt evil arseholes never have any power.

I'm an election inspector for my local jurisdiction. Before being granted a ballot, we would insist that the voter withdraw and remove any signs, slogans, or apparel supporting or endorsing a candidate or platform. Failure to comply would result in a request for law enforcement assistance. I've done it, and our clerk backed me up.

And his year I will be really surprised if you aren’t assaulted or forcibly removed by law enforcement for something like this.

These Fascist pigs are coming for us all in one way or another and I hate it.

So just a plain red hat? lol

They're more likely to try purging voter rolls of Democrats than most anything else. Then there's the intimidation. I live in Trump country so the knuckle dragging MAGAts probably think they have it in the bag.

Not sure how you would even go about achieving that. All they're talking about is requiring ID and deploying ice to intimidate and scare immigrants away from voting locations in democrate districts. So have an ID and don't look like a democrat and you're sweet.

That said there was a lot of shady shit with voting machines in the last US election.

The requiring ID part gets a lot of fine print - that's one of their main tactics.

Says the owner of Lodespawn’s MAGA Hat Emporium

Crap .. you caught me, I've been having a lot of trouble with a saturated market and so I've been "donating" to Trump and dropping hints that he should make sweeping changes to the voting environment so non-MAGA people will need to look like MAGA people and in turn buy more MAGA merch. I hope you're happy with yourself, my kids will only get slightly smaller mansions now thanks to you. You're despicable!

Unfortunately that's not how they would do it. You would just Target certain districts. Strong Democratic districts. Instead of worrying about each individual voter you just shut those down as a whole. Way more efficient.

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah but they would still have to have thugs standing there targeting people, and you can bet those thugs are going to be letting any MAGA idiot through unmolested. Appropriate Camo will help avoid detection, an at worst case it makes the goon's job harder.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Again though i doubt it. Way easier and more efficient to just target the whole district. The math makes any potential lost votes worthwhile.

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 1 points 1 day ago

What do you think they will do when they target a district?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 10 points 3 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

You are not allowed to wear political clothing where I live.

Edit: I meant in polling places, on election day. You can wear political messages all you want, otherwise.

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I can only assume you're not in the US. I'm in Aus, I don't think there's any rule about political party branded clothing here but I think if you were wearing clothing with a political parties logo and not directly involved in the party, either an actual politician or helping with their campaign, then people would think there was something dodgy going on ..

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/11/04/voting-campaign-apparel-states-banned-electioneering/75914076007/

In the US there's laws in some, but not all states, preventing you from campaigning for any candidate close to a polling place. This includes signs, clothing, and verbally promoting a party or candidate.

It doesn't matter if you're doing it "officially" or just as a random citizen standing in line.
