Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

Also fucking wild some German Lemmitor posted this as an example of "decline into censorship". I reported that post and pinged the admin but it's still up, figured it was worth sharing in a comm without the implicit defense of revenge porn and deepfake nudes.
That isn't censorship @schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de. Removing revenge porn and deepfake nudes and holding companies that refuse to police such things on their platforms accountable is the correct thing to do you sick fuck.

Funny how the "Everyone should be free from any sort of control and be allowed to do anything they want" people and the "I should be allowed nonstop instant gratification and be allowed to make porn of anything, even people I know IRL regardless of how it affects them" people are always the exact same guy.
So fucking sad that people like that say "censorship bad" but look completely past literally all the vile shit done to anti-genocide people all over Europe (like what happened to Hüseyin Dogru, which is of course just the tip of the iceberg)

Yeah they got banned after defending reactionaries from their instance and publicly claiming that using gay as an insult is "not homophobic", they're a total clown and a liberal of the highest calibre.
Ah so this is 100% on brand for them. I think this might be the time to ask their users why the hell they are still on that instance. They seem to have a lot of cool users but every position from their administration I have seen has been abhorrent.
Revenge porn sucks, freeze peach can't be absoloute, and I don't know what the original post said. But it is, definitionally, 'censorship' to block it.
and it sucks that revenge porn works instead of everybody turning on the abuser posting or now creating it.
perhaps a society that would not pile on a victim would also not produce that victimization in the first place
considering everything "speech" is an absurd position IMO. Possibly true in a philosophical or abstract fashion but absolutely not helpful in creating meaningful laws or healthy society
censorship isn't always bad, just like propaganda doesn't mean it's false. revenge porn and US-sponsored media should be censored.
I think considering sharing fabricated porn of a real person or sharing nudes of someone without their consent is severely torturing the concept of speech and free speech and getting into the weeds about it is unproductive and problematic in its own right.
