yeah true, he probably just did considering they went to the bass strait side of the peninsula, but it's just wild to me that a sitting prime minister, known strong swimmer and avid spear fisherman can just be a death at sea without a trace. Especially a dude who by all accounts should have understood or been able to identify a rip.
i think it's more just not comprehending the technological leaps and changes on process between the 60s and say 2000 if you're born in the 90s. Like if this happened today or in the last 20 years, they'd be running subs, choppers, sonar scans and everything else until they found a body for confirmation. Back then, they prob just sent two boats out and maybe a navy diver and called it off when the seas were rough as fuck.
I just want a James Cameron-esque expedition to find a body or something. People ran with him defecting via a Chinese mini sub or being killed underwater by a CIA or Japanese diver and i don't think either of those happened, but i just can't believe there's no evidence at all. It's just inconceivable in this day and age
