The rebrand coincides with the opening of a new broadcast centre at News Corp Australia’s Sydney headquarters, officially launched by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and NSW Premier Chris Minns.

I was wondering if they are rebranding because people were viewing Sky News as being allegedly misleading, useless opinion and propaganda posing as news, so they needed a fresh start.

But based on people I know who watch Sky After Dark etc, I don't think that would be the case.

They're rebranding because their licensing deal to use the name hasn't been renewed by the UK Sky News, because the stuff you mention damages the brand:

Interesting - because I barely pay any attention to it- but UK Sky News is owned by Comcast, with the Roberts family being largest shareholders while inn Australia former Sky News remains in the Murdoch stable.

Meh, is.Lemmy the only place.not owned by billionaires?
