I suggest uploading directly to ani.social but there's an upload limit of 25MB. If your file is bigger than 25MB, then you will have to re-encode it so it's smaller. Something like https://8mb.video/ will make it easy.
Otherwise, you can use any external file host like https://catbox.moe/. I prefer if people upload directly to ani.social instead so we don't put too much load on others.
Oh cool, I thought this wasn't an option because the upload failed.
This must be it. IMO it'd be good if this limit is mentioned somewhere or made more prominent - perhaps in the wiki or the sidebar?
I can add it to the wiki. It'd be nice if lemmy surfaced these limits, even if it is just the error message.
If you use av1+opus/avif you can get the most out of the file limit. On services like catbox
Yeah Lemmy's errors can be vague sometimes. I'll just add it to the sidebar.
