I'm assuming that's the trigger for the 148 seated on the magazine well?
Yes, it was designed to allow firing without removing your hand from the pistol grip
(this also apparently led to some accidental discharges, and the M203 which was eventually actually adopted went with a more conventional trigger in a guard underneath the handguard)
