I don't think Lamborghini is being totally honest. If there was zero interest, basic market research would've revealed that fact and they wouldn't have invested time and resources into the project.
I theorize they don't see one of their largest markets (the US amidst a major, far-right led regression) as fertile soil for for the kind of sales they want to see.
