Got the same.
Then it was fixed this morning. Tried opening the first image post, save image, FREEEEZEEEE. Some things never change.
Please Connect devs, can you look into this? Again, I've used multiple reddit/lemmy apps over the years, none of them ever had the issue that it freezes the app to the point where android OS is saying its no longer responding and I can kill or wait some more. Connect has had this on 4 different devices now. It always starts out fine, new and clean install, all works fine, then about a month in or something, trying to save an image just freezes the app completely. Once it starts with the freeze-on-save, it keeps doing it until (I guess) I reinstall from scratch. Sometimes, sometimes, an update comes out and all of the sudden its fixed. Then a few weeks of image saving later, freeeeeeeeeeeeeeze again.
Currently the only way I can save images is to share > url > firefox > save it there
If it helps, I save a lot of funny memes locally, so I save some ~10 images per day or so
