Both Americans and Europeans should agree on the fact that europe don't need American help to defend itself. American presidents have urged us for decades to spend more on defense, albeit by purchasing american made arms. Trump and his stupidly blunt policies have basically forced our hands, but at the cost of soft american power. We are currently arming Europe, but not with American arms. Long term, the effects of his presidency will drastically strengthen Europe, but not for the benefit of America.
