I'm getting back into MtG - Really I never left, but all my friends who played have moved + I lost all my good decks in a move myself. Now some of my other friends have started playing, and though I hate universes beyond, I enjoy the game.
I don't want to spend a bajillion on cards however, but I also don't want to play with paper cutouts or proxies. It's silly, but I like the cardboard for some reason. And I'd really like to regain some of my old decks, which were from Return to Ravnica/Original Innistraad era.
So I'm looking for a good printshop that prints good-looking Magic cards. I hear some shops in China have gotten better than WOTC at printing.
I'm in the EU.
Anyway, I'd love to get some recommendations. Please help me out.
Makeplayingcards (makeplayingcards.com) is one of the better proxying sites, they're very consistent and not very expensive. you can use a website like MPC Autofill (mpcfill.com) to create an xml file of the cards you want printed, then take that to MPC for the printing. Mpcfill also lets you pick individual card arts for every card, or upload your own if you want, it's very convenient. I also recently started playing again, and proxying everything with cards that actually feel like magic cards has been a game changer. if I had to print everything out on printer paper and use those I imagine it would be much less fun.

Seconding makeplayingcards and mpcfill. The top row was made using the mpcfill. The Disco Elysium cards I made myself using an online tool, but then I had to use another tool to mess with the margins and make sure they didn't bleed or cut off. Now I have an entire harry/kim edh deck.
I usually use s30 or s33 stock (little thicker, maybe not accurate, but I like the feel). The foiling is pretty good too, if you ever want some blinged out cards.
for sure! here's two rows of cards; the ones on the top are proxies, and the ones on the bottom are legit cards
the proxies have a very slight blur on the text if you look very closely, but sleeved up in a deck they're indistinguishable.

I also like to change the backs of the cards to ensure everyone (including myself) knows they're fake, so that I don't accidentally trade them and scam someone
Makeplayingcards is actually really strict about this themselves. Found out when I thought it would be funny to have yugioh backs on one of my decks. Even with the different card sizes they wouldn't print it. I also hear they have trouble with pokemon art, so if you want pokemon-themed mtg cards you need to hide them in the middle of the order and hope it slips by.
I've been getting proxies from AliExpress that are so high quality they're damn near indistinguishable. Holograms, backs, and everything. Giving them away as gifts, I have to constantly remind the person I've given them to that they're not real and not to get them mixed up.
