What does the red skull mean? Warning for tough enemies?
Yep, in Assassin's Creed games, the red skull represents an enemy who would wipe the floor with you. I think the comic maybe referring to Assassin's Creed Shadows.
In order to kill higher level units, you need to spend enough points in a skill tree to purchase the skill to hit hard enough to assassinate.
It would be so much more immersive if such enemies just had a counter against being assassinated, and there was no skull icon over them. Nothing but context clues like armour, location, or behaviour to warn you that a backstab will just get you suplexed or thrown out of a window. That way every regular schmo that gets merked still has enough ambiguity that it's more exciting.
I don't even play AC, though. Maybe I'm just talking out of my ass.
Funnily enough, there are certain units that would deny your assassination attempt if you attack them from the front. Not every joe, but basically every schmomurai can.
And of course you can upgrade that limitation away as well.
Nah I think you're right. You do have environmental clues though, the big ones are, well, bigger. But the way it's done is fucking stupid because they get the normal animation, then they just get back up.
That sounds incredibly unsatisfying!
