I feel you, comrade. I've been in and out of a gazillion bands, and most of them didn't make it to the first gig. And the one did dissolve after the first few.
Rant incoming
I am a metalhead and love playing and composing old-school stuff—any famous and underground acts before the 2000s—but virtually nobody plays that stuff in my city.I tried playing “softer” stuff—blues, indie rock, pop, folk tunes, etc.—but none of them scratches that itch, you know.
Many of those bands were composed of pricks. They either were people with a huge ego with little to no talent or were not taking the band stuff seriously enough because they think it is a game (I know some people have a busy schedule, but if you want to do something meaningful, either reschedule your life or leave and stop wasting both of our time.)
Now, I'm currently in another pop rock band. They were fine at the beginning, but imho their playing became rather passionless with time. I warn them many times, but they either don't understand or don't listen to me. There's a new gig coming up; after that I'll talk with them heart to heart.
Rant is over, thanks for tuning in.
It's fucking tough out there homie. Consciously removing myself from any sort of local scene for that past few years doesn't leave me with a ton of contacts to hit up if I resume working on it later.
Many of my “contacts” in my local scene have children in my age, lol. And for the record, I accidentally wrote “from the 2000s” instead of “before” in the previous reply.
