If they couldn't handle me at my mental health worst, then they dont get me at my....fuck it, whatever, ive been thinking about hanging it up for years anyways πŸ’…πŸ’…πŸ’…πŸ’…πŸ’…πŸ’…πŸ’…πŸ’…

Lmao i dont even listen to doom anymore, its been fuckin years. Might go back to doing folk punk shit, or at least doing "full band" stuff on my laptop like I did when I started doing metal.

Also im going to bed now. On some new brain shit that makes me sleep (seroquel). I dont expect or really wanna have any conversations about this right now. I just wanted to post to make myself feel better.

The contradictions of life tear us apart; it isn't a reflection on you or them necessarily.

Sometimes you gotta let go to get to your next self.

Wishing you well.

Thanks, appreciate it. Truth is, I had been talking to my outside friends and loved ones for over a year about hanging it up. So this isn't entirely unwelcome, as unfortunate as the way it happened is.

You’re probably talking about doom metal but a MF doom jazz quartet tribute band would be sick

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Good luck comrade

I'm sorry you aren't doing well rn πŸ«‚

Thanks homie. Appreciate you.

I'm really sorry to hear that.

I have my mid-life crisis coming up and was thinking vocals in a grindcore or death metal band so hit me up if you want idk

[–] corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I just wrote a grind song like 2 months ago and tit got rejected. Time to dig out the audio interface.

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I actually can do some killer vocals imho i just haven't ever been in a real band so don't have any stamina for shows or anything. Would be perfect to start by just doing stuff for online comrades

I know how to program drums and shit, so it isnt outside the realm of possibility. Just not sure where to pirate sample banks from these days. Also, ya know...theres the whole taking a break from music for my mental health thing too. Maybe someday we can get something going!

Timeline: Whenever we both feel like it, if that even ends up happening.

No pressure, just thinking outloud

Sounds like a deal buddy

I feel you, comrade. I've been in and out of a gazillion bands, and most of them didn't make it to the first gig. And the one did dissolve after the first few.

Rant incomingI am a metalhead and love playing and composing old-school stuffβ€”any famous and underground acts before the 2000sβ€”but virtually nobody plays that stuff in my city.

I tried playing β€œsofter” stuffβ€”blues, indie rock, pop, folk tunes, etc.β€”but none of them scratches that itch, you know.

Many of those bands were composed of pricks. They either were people with a huge ego with little to no talent or were not taking the band stuff seriously enough because they think it is a game (I know some people have a busy schedule, but if you want to do something meaningful, either reschedule your life or leave and stop wasting both of our time.)

Now, I'm currently in another pop rock band. They were fine at the beginning, but imho their playing became rather passionless with time. I warn them many times, but they either don't understand or don't listen to me. There's a new gig coming up; after that I'll talk with them heart to heart.

Rant is over, thanks for tuning in.

It's fucking tough out there homie. Consciously removing myself from any sort of local scene for that past few years doesn't leave me with a ton of contacts to hit up if I resume working on it later.

[–] asdasd201@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Many of my β€œcontacts” in my local scene have children in my age, lol. Β  And for the record, I accidentally wrote β€œfrom the 2000s” instead of β€œbefore” in the previous reply.

[–] roux@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If it's any consolation, the my band(that I started) kicked me out so now I'm working on throwing together a punk project.

To be fair, I either wanted to do deathcore or crust punk and the band was going in a more melodic metal/thrash direction anyway.

Crust is love crust is life

[–] LeylaLove@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Love you Corgi ❀️

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh that sucks, sorry to hear that... meow-hug

Eh, a long break will be good. Like I said elsewhere, I'd been thinking about hanging it up for a while now.

[–] Enjoyer_of_Games@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It might be tough now but the band breaking up and taking a couple months/years off are necessary preconditons in order to reach the stage of getting the band back together.

Yeah, I'll come back to it some day. Things are just unclear.
