From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

idk how this works. Which variant is right for me and how do I make it be on my computer?

Update: I have a GeForce graphics card. Is it worth dealing with "some trouble" to have a computer without copilot?

Update: I think I have it working, thanks everyone!

I picked up a USB drive earlier, I can just use the new computer itself to get it ready I think

Sounds like you’re all set. Good luck!

Thanks! I am investing the stick with magic Linux power now

What package did you end up going with?

[–] Florn@hexbear.net 1 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Linux Mint. I only have partial RGB functionality but I can live with that

[–] doodoo_wizard@lemmy.ml 1 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Not in the openrgb device list?

I think it was but the only aura mode it would use was a rainbow wave instead of a static color. I ended up using asusctl and got it working on Mint using something someone posted to reddit. So my keyboard is working properly but not the LED band that goes around the front bottom of the laptop.
