much smaller struggle session, but there was a thread about whether stacking rocks on a hike is damaging to local ecosystems over a long period of time. I don't remember what the arguments were or who was right, I didn't participate in that one.

Only counter-justification I can think of would be if you are on an unmarked trail where it would be very easy to get lost, or to mark a hidden danger.

I mean, what's the point of making a sculpture or painting? People have been making rock stacks for thousands of years, though yeah if it fucks with the ecosystem we should knock that off.
