The stupidity on show is mindboggling. They literally timed this shit to go down at the exact same time your average head-in-the-sand user will notice their favourite app suddenly Doesn't Work.
Users like that don't give a shit about reddit politics or even differentiate between a third party app and the site. They're just gonna be angry at the Id deprivation and walk into a site full of even angrier people ready to aim 'em
