The Rules
Posts must be:
- Links to news stories from...
- ...credible sources, with...
- ...their original headlines, that...
- ...would make people who see the headline think, “That has got to be a story from The Onion, America’s Finest News Source.”
Comments must abide by the server rules for Lemmy.world and generally abstain from trollish, bigoted, or otherwise disruptive behavior that makes this community less fun for everyone.
And that’s basically it!

MODERATORS
It's part of the way the right packages their "information" to be easily reproducible by their viewers. The people who take it in memorize info verbatim, the same crowd often falls to rhetorical arguments when they have nothing logical. These folks lack the critical thinking to thoroughly challenge the ideas they are given - the idea has surface level cohesion so it must be a valuable thought that is logically solid.
They are left spouting something wrong BUT, importantly, these same people hate appearing dumb or being wrong, so they double down and change their behavior instead of admitting fault. They repeat this several times to friends and family, alienating themselves and finding only other proud idiots who say the same things online. But that validation is what they crave as they have been wrong for so long and done so much to change who they are that they end up parroting any talking point they are fed, including ideas that mirror their own but from another country.
Since they don't challenge ideas they are given, they don't change any labels and end up spouting nonsense again, but it's American themed nonsense. And that how we get here, watching idiots speak and behave like the only other people who understand them.
