I used to work at a hotel and they never changed the duvet covers guest to guest, only the other sheets.

This is so freaking gross, things like this just fuel my fear of hotels in general. Another reason not to skimp on your room!

Honestly I figured this was the case everywhere. The sheets are the clean part. I also wouldn't expect the couch cushion covers to be cleaned each guest.

Used to work at a hotel that did this too. Ask for the room to be spring cleaned before your visit. You might get charged slightly more, but you won't be sleeping with a dirty duvet that hasn't been washed in almost a year.

Enter the name of the hotel here --> ______

Almost all of them

[-] Sandakada@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

If its a chain I can guarantee you they do this!

[-] W33PINGVIK1NG@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

sn, I'm officially never going to a chain hotel again

[-] Veltoss@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

This has been a fairly open secret, or at least it has been in my family. My father traveled a lot and we would always throw those on the floor immediately. I assume nowadays many of the bigger chains do clean them but I still wouldn't trust smaller places and even smaller chain-owned hotels.

I leave visible stains at (some) hotels when I leave ... ... ... a little coffee is what I typically use, but toothpaste works too. I've heard too many stories over the years. Don't forget to leave a small tip at the end of your stay.

[-] Xylinna@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Well now I feel gross.

[-] TheGod@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Plot twist: the Hotel did change them and all colleagues did too. Only OP learnt it wrong and despite knowing it is shitty OP didnt bother to do better himself bc he thought everyone did this
