This galactic community keeps growing, and even though the fear of the Empire seems to keep everyone in check, it would probably still be nice to have a Jedi Council to keep an eye on things too.

In other words, the applications for mods are open. I've messaged a few people here over the weeks but nobody had the time. (If I messaged you before and you changed your mind, let me know.)

I'm not joking with the Jedi Council thing either. I don't want tyranny of mods that can't be touched. I'm looking for people who are willing to step into a discussion and resolve conflicts if any ever arise. Removal of comments or bans are not tools I like to use, unless it's something stupid like selling death sticks or hiring a bounty hunter.

Great news is, our citizens are all as chill as Han in carbonite, so being a guardian of peace is actually the easiest job ever. Still gotta be on a lookout for the dark side though. You never know if we won't get invaded by some unknown Thread.

Also please have Matrix. Discord doesn't work for me (what a piece of junk).

It would also be nice if you liked memes and Star Wars I guess? That's why... We're here.

Ed: Best hit me with a DM here or over Matrix. Not looking for experience, tho I'll look over everyone's profiles. Then I'll throw everyone in a Matrix room with one lightsaber in the middle and see who survives :P

The other thing: please remember to mark sensitive content as NSFW. That includes memes that can attract lewd comments too. I personally have a high tolerance for crude stuff (traveling through the outer rim full of scum and villainy does that to a mf), but people may browse this at actual work too. Tagging something as NSFW is just a click, so no biggie, I think. Use your judgement.

(Yep, so also check if you have NSFW enabled in your profile. It's disabled by default.)

Will those added to the Jedi Council be granted the rank of master?

[-] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 year ago

This is outrageous! This is unfair!

[-] WhoRoger@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Everyone except me is an apprentice forever.

[-] Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Wouldn't mind helping you mod here

[-] WhoRoger@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It is... Acceptable, but don't you have enough communities to mod already?

[-] Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Less work than youd think, maybe 1-2 reports every once in a while

[-] WhoRoger@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Btw I'm going to bed so I'll get back to questions/pings when I get up

Sit down young apprentice, do you have Matrix?

[-] rezz@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Yes. I don’t like to use Matrix much but if the council has foreseen it, my F key is ready.

Tagging something as NSFW is just a click, so no biggie

This is true, but I think Lemmy accounts default to not showing NSFW stuff, so most people browsing this Community won't see anything tagged with it. So the mechanism for avoiding potential lewd comments, is to make sure it won't get any comments at all.

This is one theory. The other is that the NSFW meme I posted earlier that went nowhere wasn't as funny as I thought it was. But that seems inconceivable.

I have my account marked to not show NSFW content, but I still saw your post earlier (The one about Andorian people right?). I don't think it was marked as NSFW?

Either way, I thought it was funny. For whatever that's worth.

[-] freamon@feddit.nl 2 points 1 year ago

Thank you, but it was the one after that one. You wouldn't have seen it. I know 'cos after I tagged it, I couldn't see it either (well, not without changing my account settings, which makes Lemmy into a whole other experience.

One problem also is that mods can't edit someone else's post or mark it nsfw. So all we can do is delete, lock, or tell the OP to change something, and then wait and see if they will. So until these things improve, there really isn't much else we can do than ask people to mark stuff as nsfw in advance.

[-] WhoRoger@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Yea true, Lemmy devs and community overall are a bit too concerned with nsfw in my opinion.

I dunno what to do about that though, except maybe occasionally remind people to check if they have it disabled.

I don't mind of you need help but there are plenty of people better suited than I am

[-] WhoRoger@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I can't tell much about you from your profile, but if you're down, we can talk. Matrix?

Star Wars Memes

Hello there. Somehow, Star Wars memes have returned. It's not a trap, this is where the fun begins.

Technical note: if you're coming from another star system and are getting a "Subscription pending" message when trying to dock, that's just the console being slow to display the right message. The connection is already established. (Probably.)

Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.
