Because the battlestations community is empty thanks to a community squatter I figure this is the next place for this kind of thing.

I had been using a light and flimsy IKEA table for a long time and decided it was time to get some real solid wood. Pretty expensive stuff, but it feels so much better. The tabletop isn't even that big, but it weighs about 70 lbs. Far less likely to move around by getting bumped.

Obligatory cat.

Did you just buy the board and put it on those two containers or is it a package deal somewhere? Looks good and it just so happens that I need a table. The Ikea table I have is bent from just a 39" monitor and I still need to mount a heavy DD racing wheel ...

while everyone is looking at your big ass table I am looking at that cute brown furball 🥰

The cat DOES match the top very well. Good color choice. ^_^

Loving the choice of wood. I did butcher block and while way cheaper it will not look or feel as good as walnut. 👍

Is that monitor vertically challenged or is it an illusion caused by the extra width?

[-] Izzy@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I'm not sure. It is a 34 inch 21:9 ultra widescreen monitor.

What is that soundbar? I'm planninya similar setup and this one looks like just what I need size-wise (stuff I found is humongous)

Read that as "solid waste turntable" somehow.

What is that a picture of?

[-] Izzy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

On my monitor? It was taken at the St. Louis Botanical Gardens during the Chihuly glass exhibit. I have many more photos of it on my PixelFed if you are interested.

[-] Lakija@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I was talking about the wall, but now that you mention it I would like to see pictures of the Botanical Gardens! I love plants!

Ah, it is some artwork by a guy who goes by Ilya Kuvshinov. I think this particular ones title is Graveyard. I didn't know she was supposed to be standing in a graveyard when I got it.

Cool! I like it. It’s a little spooky which is nice.

How can I view your other garden images?

That’s gorgeous. There’s a sweet shop near me with chandeliers like Chihuly’s glasswork hanging up. Now I know what the style emulates!

That's not a table. That's a desk.

[-] Izzy@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

As a completed object perhaps, but they aren't exactly attached to one another. The "tabletop" is simply sitting ontop of the shelves. Which becomes a desk. Unless you would like to call it a desktop, but I feel like computers have co-opted that terminology.

What chair is that? It looks like a Steelcase. How do you like it?

[-] Izzy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It is a steelcase series 1. Best chair I've ever had. The back can recline without the seat bottom moving. The arm wrests can move in any direction or angle. The material is comfortable and doesn't get sweaty.

Cable management looks great, how'd you do it?

[-] Izzy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Cables from the monitor go through the monitor mount. All these cables are bundled and twist ties into a single group that go horizontal to the back corner of the room and down into a cable management box which also has a power strip inside of it. Down there I also have a displayport KVM and a laptop dock.

Love it, you inspiring me to tackle the hellscape that is my cable management
