It's nice to see posts made by real people; this way (using Lemmy), you realize just how much bots' crap is Reddit made of.

Agree. The lack of bots, sponsored posts and AutoMod comments are a breath of fresh air
oh man I do not miss scrolling past the thousand word automod essay on every freaking post. I kinda miss sorting by controversial though.
That reminds me of r/shitposting, there used to be a time where you could ruin an entire post and have like more than 50 replies of the autobot alone
My addiction is worse now.
Excuse me, does anyone know how to delete someone else's post? I'm in this picture and I don't like it.
Just kidding, I love it here.
Best way to fight an addiction is to get addicted to something else
Same here, it took me a while to figure out how Lemmy works, but I think I'm getting it. Honestly I can't believe I haven't found out about this before now. Go fediverse!
LoL. I wasn't really distracted by random subs on reddit. But on Lemmy. People are into flashlights???!!
I know! Thank God I'm not the only one. I've been seeing that community constantly while trying to figure out how to use Lemmy.
The first few days were kind of tough; but once I started finding communities I liked, my feed got pretty nice.
Me: I have to spend less time on social media.
Also me: Federation is right thing. Do not leave!
Indeed! This is where reddit goes to die, to paraphrase a great contemporary philosopher (/s/s/s, ΓΌber/s, in case it's needed)
I don't even know what you said, much less where the sarcasm was.
Lemmy is the first platform I've come across that I'm actually excited to use in many years. Being federated and not motivated by profits (with all the tracking and selling of personal information that it entails) makes me feel like I'm not the product.
Iβm on kbin and yeah, this is my new home
Got to love the Fediverse, eh!
Mhm
Just to avoid scree time after reddit blackout, I had uninstalled other social media apps as well. But got suck into Lemmy right after that.
Hey, at least it's not ~~crack~~ reddit
oh I know... I'm so much more active here. It's just a nicer atmosphere for engagement.
We've got to spend the time to help the place grow! (and other excuses)
I'm still trying to wrap around my mind about how this federated universe works. Like i know that I could access the content of this instance (is this the correct name?) from Mastodon and I did subcribe to a few lemmy instances from there but didn't manage to read any posts. Plus the thing that in Lemmy i use an account from another instance and I can read and post on everything but not by accessing it directly. It's kind of counfusing and I think this will be the greatest break to it's diffusion. Otherwise definitely better than Twitter/Reddit for sure.
This should help
I feel seen.
It's even worse now tbh lol!
This place is already doing what reddit did for me and Jerboa is very close to the 3rd party app I used. Fuck reddit and spez, hello Lemmy!
Well said. I used Sync for Reddit and find Jerboa compares well.
Still need to figure out things (for as much as Jerboa for Lemmy is nice, it can't hold a candle to Sync), but same here.
I never thought of myself as addicted to social media, but I got more studying done in two days than I have in two months. It made me realize how much SM consumed my time.
Trying to fill the void has shown me just how large the void was in the first place.
