idk sounds kind of authorioritaritan, why not just confront them in the marketplace of ideas

You can’t sell asbestos cotton candy at a marketplace of food. Authorities of public health regulate that shit out of our markets. Same public health oversight but with regulatory baseball bats.

guess the in my display name wasn't enough to imply sarcasm

Don't you see? You just got HORSESHOE THEORY'D!!!

[-] jopepa@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

No I got it, I was just building on the joke by playing opposition to your sarcasm.

[-] GrainEater@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 year ago

I always like when people in our party are so invested in finding new ways to pwn the fascists in the marketplace of ideas. I'm sure the fascists are doing the same in their 'self defence' classes they are talking about.

those Nazis will surely realize that they're being mean when confronted with poignant criticism

Instilling fear on their opposition (violent nazi fascist) and providing safe spaces for immigrants (people of color)

[-] Aru@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 1 year ago

Btw, what do fr*nch history class text books say about Algeria

[-] lil_tank@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 1 year ago

Not a lot, colonial history is treated like a secondary subject, at least it was in my time, maybe it changed a bit now.

The war with Algeria is mostly discussed around the event of De Gaulle doing something with the radio when the fascist fringe of the military rebelled against him for having connected two neurons and abandonned the war. Very lame, no word about the atrocities.

[-] CriticalResist8@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 1 year ago

It sucks cause Julien, the guy on the right, is now at pro-Israel protests in Paris.

[-] DankZedong@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 1 year ago

That's a shame. Luckily there is a very active antifa movement in France right now, who are keeping the OG spirit of the Red Warriors alive.

[-] Fissionami@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 1 year ago

That's sad 😢 Btw do you have any sources where I can read about that?

[-] CriticalResist8@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 1 year ago

I have it on good authority, but from a friend who heard it from friends or others. But I think it's still a trustable source because it's not super difficult to prove, even if it's hearsay lol

there's also some interviews of Red Warriors on youtube though in French, including Julien. He seemed more like an anarchist than a commuinist, he said he tried to join PCF but they wanted to give him reading and courses and he didn't care much for it.

Kind of makes me think of inglorious Basterds. I wonder if there’s any I inspiration taken from them.
