Uhhh coconut whipped cream is SO good though, I'd you had the choice why would you choose regular?

[-] NoneYa@lemm.ee 11 points 3 months ago

I am one of those people. My gf loves coconut and I bought some so she could try it and she loved it. But the heavy taste of coconut is offputting for me compared to the dairy version.

[-] isthingoneventhis@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

Oh! Idk I normally hate super coconut stuff (like liquor or candies) but the whipped variety feels very mild. I used to put it in my coffee and it was heaven.

Across brand differences perhaps. I love coconut too but unwanted coconut taste (e.g., coconut base to a mint chocolate chip ice cream) is something to be watchful for

For this one, single thing, in this isolated instance? No.

If I'm comparing vegan sausage to pork sausage? Very much so.

(Does pork have a higher environmental cost that isn't reflected by the price paid at the register? Also yes.)

Where I live, processed stuff is usually more expensive because it isn't sold in most stores, so I have to travel a little far or order online in vegan stores (plus shipping). Also vegan restaurants are far or more expensive, but I've seen more non-vegan restaurants add vegetarian/vegan options :)

[-] jerkface@lemmy.ca -3 points 3 months ago

If you are eating in restaurants, clearly money is not your primary concern.

[-] not_amm@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 months ago

Yeah, sure. I guess I must not complain as it's clearly not possible to know the prices even if I don't buy or save up some money to buy every now and then.

[-] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Vegan is the cheapest I've ever eaten. I looked in the corpse department the other day simply out of curiosity and a single steak was 17 dollars. Gimme a 3 dollar bag of lentils and I'm good for several dinners.

No no no being French is simply more expensive as is right and proper with the Lord. They must pay more for the rest of us to put up with their smelly elitist euroshit.

I won't downvote but I will say that I personally don't think unfounded discriminating/stereotyping against nationalities or continents is desirable in a vegan community

[-] LordGimp@lemm.ee -2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

You are right 100% unfounded discrimination is not acceptable. Unfortunately for the Fr×nch, there are hundreds of years of documented history confirming that the discrimination against the Fr×nch is entirely warranted in 99 cases out of 100.

Care to enlighten me a bit? One thing I like about the French is that they're usually quite willing to take to the streets for social revolution. When anti-Black racism was really prevalent in the US in the 20th century (eg, 1960s), Black people were treated much better in France than the US as far as I understand it. France a history of inhumane colonization, like many of the other big players in Europe. That's my dossier on France at the moment (I guess I'd add that modern English borrowed many cool words from the French language too)

[-] LordGimp@lemm.ee 0 points 3 months ago

Generally I wouldn't go around hate mongering, but the fr×nch deserve worse. Start off with the fact that I'm a native American man with a French last name. There is an entire genocide in that statement, but for the fr×nch, it is but one of many. Besides the rampant colonization, which you have noted, the most distinguishing characteristic of a true fr×nchperson is the ability to care only about Fr×nce, its "culture", and anyone else they deem sufficiently fr×nch. Take note of the current and MASSIVE antimuslim attitude in Fr×nce right now. Idk if that's some hard right Vichy leftover, but the whole Vichy government is an issue of its own. Take your pick but it's a shit show all the way down.

I appreciate you sharing, thank you

Why are you talking about things you don't know? Come to France and you'll see. Where do we only care about French?

There are far rights neo Nazis as in every other country but we dunk on them

We have massive protests against Israel. Students occupy their universities to protest as well

You may have only seen some part shared by the media, not the whole story of current French people. We are not our fashist government

Btw I don't like France or French people in general, but I gotta attest for the presence of good people here

[-] LordGimp@lemm.ee 0 points 3 months ago

If I ever come to Fr×nce it will be to burn their women and rape their churches as they did to my people hundreds of years ago. That you elected your own fascists into power only confirms my condemnation.

[-] drolex@sopuli.xyz 6 points 3 months ago

Actually, whipped cream is socialised here. I can go to my local whipped cream office and get my weekly ration of whipped cream, free at the point of distribution.

[-] The_Che_Banana@beehaw.org 3 points 3 months ago

Indeed....it is conveniently located next to the Croissant Office in my town.

Good. French Canadians are even more pretentious than the original strain.
