Hi everyone, first comment on here. Going to try to get an MVP out within the next 3-6 weeks.

I'll be posting updates on discord:

This is going to be a game changer. I've been using Sync Pro since 2015 and can't see myself using anything else for mobile browsing. Thanks for the awesome app!

The whole fediverse needs some serious UX work.

[-] mikestevens@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Well yeah, but that's the difference between volunteering and being on a big salary. Hopefully the influx of new users will lead to more code input though, and more donations.

i will follow the sync app to the ends of the earth

[-] Exilfranke@feddit.de 10 points 1 year ago

The end of Sync is the reason why I will leave Reddit at the end of the month. So nice to see that we eventually might get a new app for Lemmy!

It's exciting to see all these apps ramping up development. Honestly, the greatest gift that Reddit gave to the fediverse is sending all their former third party developers here, because that will greatly accelerate development.

I saw it in the redditsync subreddit already - this is such great news, especially since I'm still struggling to get used to the Lemmy interface. I had bought Sync Pro 7 years ago and it is probably the most heavily used app on my phone.

[-] th3sup3rdud3@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Just created an account then downloaded Jerboa. I am +/- ten minutes old here in Fediverse yet. About to delete my 11 year-old account in Reddit. Thank you u/spez

I will pick this up day 1! Been using sync for years and have always come back to it.

[-] void_hunter@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

I'm genuinely so excited for this and and the same time hoping boost makes one too. They recently dropped their latest update and it looks beyond pretty with the rounded edge cards and adaptive colours.

As a iOS user I really hope Apollo will follow!

[-] Clipboards@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Yep, i'm permanently on Lemmy with this news.

[-] Waitwuhtt@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

As a long time Sync user this made my day!

[-] cjsolx@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Same here, I'm so excited!

I'm more than happy to pay for a service I enjoy so I legitimately cannot wait to give him my money.

Here's to new beginnings in the Fediverse!

[-] Raxiel@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I already bought Sync for Reddit twice. Removing ads from the free version the first time (it was still called Reddit Sync back then) and then again for the 'ad code not even included' pro version earlier this year. Guess I'll be buying Sync a third time.

Or more specifically, Google will be buying it for me with the cash they paid for my data.

This is genuinely exciting news.

[-] ijeff@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Likely a game changer that has be giving Lemmy a try. Jerboa isn't too terrible either.

[-] house_of_questions@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

I agree. Been using Jerboa as well and it's nice and usable enough as a placeholder, but I'll be watching the Sync development. Can't wait!

Wow, I've never even used Sync but from the screenshot of the Reddit app on Google Play it's one of those UIs so good that make you want to use it. I'm currently fine with the Lemmy PWA but the more feature-complete Reddit apps that get "ported" to be used with Lemmy the better, especially to ease the transition for new users.

[-] Zuberi@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Sync is an absolutely wonderful app. I look forward to his contunued dev work

[-] potato_pizzareca@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

So many good news. Glad these developers are also trying out other options since Reddit has started shitting itself.

[-] Cunty@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I moved to Sync when alien blue was bought by reddit, this is such exciting news!! Woo!

[-] xbhaktapur@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

As a recent lemmy convert from reddit who exclusively used Sync, this made my day. Thanks for the news.

[-] Akuma@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

That's why I came here today! Like a Phoenix rising from Sync for Reddit's ashes Sync for Lemmy will be born! Nice to see you all my fellow converts. Today is my new cake day!

[-] slinky317@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

That's awesome. Sync is the best Reddit client on Android.

Great news!! I would rather Infinity for Lemmy, but it's a great step in the right direction to make a best community. Althought Infinity is open source. If I were programmer I will do Infinity for Lemmy. But I need time before know how to program.

[-] x4740N@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I want an infinity for lemmy as well

As a Sync user since 2017, this is amazing news!

[-] Cobe98@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

This will really legitimize and mainstream the platform!

I am a Boost for Reddit User, but have seen Sync and it is well designed. Jerboa is cool but it is not there yet. The experience the dev from Sync brings to Lemmy will be amazing.

Not asking for features but would be good if kbin is included with it. I still don't really understand the difference with Lemmy but it's cool.

[-] darkangelazuarl@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

This is HUGE! I was really missing Sync.

[-] uSirPatrick@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Now THIS is good news!

[-] lewis6991@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

This has made my day! Sync for Reddit is amazing.

[-] WEAPONX@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Great. I hope other devs will follow (dbrady if you're reading this). I hope he ditches reddit's forced naming scheme. Lemmy Sync.

[-] Odo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

My favorite Reddit app for several years now. Great news.

[-] anditshottoo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

This is great news. If you aren't familiar the dev is very committed, hard working and responsive. Sync was packed with features and customization.

[-] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I will purchase Sync Pro for lemmy when it comes out.

It's been an outstanding app for me on the old site, and I look forward to firing it up again in a much better online environment.

[-] Smokeless7048@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

thats amazing news!

Im enjoying Jebora, but happy to switch to something which throws less errors.
