In other news, the worm has filed a complaint with RFK’s frontal lobe for not being more delicious and life-sustaining.

It will never not be funny that this guy constantly acts like he has worms in his brains, and he actually did have at least one in there... There's no coming back from that.

This is dumb...

Both parties unanimously agreed that it was in their best interest to get rid of the nonpartisan debate commission so that the choice would remain only between the two shit shows Dems and Republicans put up.

The parties are not part of our government, they're private organizations with no responsibility to the US government or American citizens.

They can literally do whatever the fuck they want.

Don't like?

Start voting against both parties favorite candidates and replacing them with pretty much anyone else.

Neither party is going to willing give up any of their power, and the government has zero overview of either.

Itll only change if we change the people running the parties.

So you're voting third party this cycle then?

My presidential vote literally doesn't matter this election.

Biden has zero percent chance to win my state.

The worst part is with a progressive or at least actually moderate Dem candidate for president, we stand a chance of making some gains in my state government or even flipping House and Senators.

But with Biden running again, republicans are going to strengthen their chokehold on my state.

And sure, I could move to a better state, I've lived in some better ones even for a few years. But this is my home, has been for generations. If I give up and move away, that only hurts the chances of ever changing things here. And then I'd love in a state where my vote doesn't matter because it's solid blue.

You might not like the reality of our political system, but you have to be realistic about it.

The wealthy people calling the shots are definitely realistic about what kind of system we have and how it works.

Every vote counts to some degree. The more votes against Trump, the better chance we have to point out how many sane people we have in this country.

It's not always just about winning the electoral college. I don't believe the pyyric victory created by tossing your vote away for a third party is at all what you think it might be.

Every vote counts

Literally they don't...

The more votes against Trump, the better chance we have to point out how many sane people we have in this country.

The more votes for Biden, the more likely the next candidate the party picks is more conservative than voters want, and nothing changes.

I can't oppose trump without supporting a genocide...

And I'm just not going to compromise on that.

Just like Biden and the DNC won't compromise with people who don't want a genocide.

Why do you think it's easier to change millions and millions of voters minds than Joe Biden?

You have to think it's substantial easier, otherwise I'd think you'd be trying to change Biden's mind since that comes with not funding a fucking genocide.

So I really want to know why you're spending so much time telling people Biden would rather have trump in office than stop a genocide, and why that makes Biden someone I should vote into office.

The popular vote matters, proof that we're not a democracy matters. Not a lot, probably not at all but maybe in the future it might form part of an argument for making things better.

Given the stakes I'm still going to put in the small effort for a likely doomed longshot. That's about the most we can hope to achieve with electoral politics, but I still think it's worth doing.

You might not like the reality of our political system, but you have to be realistic about it.

The reality is we have a two party system and not supporting Biden only helps Trump.

You can justify it to yourself all you want, but that's the situation we're living with.

Oh no, not the FEC!

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Doesn't he realize filing complaints with the FEC causes autism?

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The complaint marks the latest step in Kennedy’s push to appear on the debate stage alongside Biden and Trump.

In order to participate in CNN’s debate, candidates must be qualified on enough state ballots to be eligible for 270 electoral votes.

The window for candidates to earn qualifying polls opened March 13th and closes seven days prior to the debate.

The Kennedy campaign argues that the qualification criteria are not objective and claims Biden and Trump would not be qualified on any states’ ballot because their parties’ nominating conventions will occur after the debate.

A CNN spokesperson said both Biden and Trump will meet the ballot access criteria as the presumptive nominees of their parties.

“The law in virtually every state provides that the nominee of a state-recognized political party will be allowed ballot access without petitioning.
