That was an excellent read.

Also, I learned from the article that the Canadians have a (somewhat better) term for SovCit magic: OPCA: Organized Pseudolegal Magic and Ceremony. The website about it looks like a great source of information.

Nice find, OP!

The OPCA document is fabulous. It drips with disdain for all of these wonky sovcit arguments while thoroughly dismantling them.

Agreed. That's a fantastic resource.

"Lawyer turned sovcit" is a phrase I never expected to read, but here we are.

[-] Naja_Kaouthia@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

I’m honestly having a hard time processing that sentence.

He was probably a Barry Zuckercorn quality of lawyer.

The legal equivalent of Dr Leo Sapceman

At the time she filed her claim last fall, Arbabi was a lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of B.C. She resigned her licence to practise law in the province this January, several weeks after it had been suspended over the case against McLelland.

Damn. Imagine your argument being so terrible that you lose your licence to practice law.

Imagine basically quitting after you've been fired, several weeks after.

I love the term "magical gibberish".

Amazing how she still claims to not be a SovCit.

[-] Aganim@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

No no, it's not SovCit. It's the Sovereign's Way.
