Lift it off y'all (lemmy.world)

I see a lot of people talking about the UI experience. I've found liftoff to be pretty enjoyable.

Infinity just came out, and its what I used for reddit for forever. Someone forked it and made it for lemmy and it's awesome!

[-] JackOfAllTraits@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

Omg THANK YOU. I love this!

[-] Hobbes@startrek.website 1 points 11 months ago

Android only? I can't find it on the app store.

[-] CausticFlames@sopuli.xyz 2 points 11 months ago

Couldn't say. I'm not even sure if infinity for reddit was available on iPhones, I got it from f-droid ;)

[-] jungekatz@lib.lgbt 2 points 11 months ago

I dont think it is on play store or app store yet ! Just fdroid !

I really like Thunder’s interface and the font is so pleasing to my eyes, but just based on my anecdotal testing, it’s been the most unstable among Memmy, Mlem, and Voyager. It also has the least features compared to the others, but I’m hoping for more progress in the future as it’s honestly the best UI experience for me.

[-] Holodeck_Moriarty@lemm.ee 1 points 11 months ago

I like Thunder a lot too. One thing I can't seem to figure out though is how to post images in comment replies.

[-] BinarySystem@partizle.com 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Commenting UI is currently getting an overhaul to match the create a post UI (assuming you are on Thunder nightlys). I think posting images will get added then. If not we can definitely take a look at adding it :)

I wasn’t aware that was possible (tried in Memmy or Voyager and seemed like it wasn’t doable).

[-] Holodeck_Moriarty@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago

Lemmy supports it. I guess only some apps are taking advantage of it so far. Liftoff, Connect, and Jerboa can, I think.

[-] newIdentity@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

I think summit too

Really like voyager as it’s basically apollo

Been using Connect for weeks now, tried some of the other apps but always end up back with Connect!

[-] anti_antidote@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

Liftoff isn't too bad but it's just not the same polished experience that Sync is. Plus it handles messaging weird imo

[-] twistypencil@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Yeah, but you can't even post with sync

[-] vaselined@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

The Band Elwood! The Band!

[-] slin@feddit.de 4 points 11 months ago

My favorites are Avelon and Mlem.

[-] pastanomaly@waveform.social 2 points 11 months ago
[-] slin@feddit.de 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah, Mlem is my overall favorite and I use it since my day 1 on Lemmy. The team seems to be awesome and the performance is really awesome too.

Avelon has IMO the cleanest UI and its development looks really promising too.

[-] einfach_orangensaft@feddit.de 4 points 11 months ago

Liftoff is also a FPV drone simulator thats why i am confused by posts like this

[-] Zetta@mander.xyz 4 points 11 months ago

Try Sync. I feel like I will be killed for this statement

[-] atocci@kbin.social 1 points 11 months ago

I loved Sync for Reddit, just gotta wait for Kbin support now...

[-] Laticauda@lemmy.ca 4 points 11 months ago

The way liftoff handled messages/replies was what ultimately drove me to voyager and ultimately sync instead. Idk if they've fixed that issue or not, but it didn't really have anything I liked more than what other apps have to offer. That's not to say it's a bad app though, it is in my top 3.

[-] jungekatz@lib.lgbt 1 points 11 months ago

Same ! I am using infinity now , though infinity is less stable than most clients , thunder so far has been the best !

[-] ElmiHalt@sopuli.xyz 2 points 11 months ago

So uhm... Does it have an inbox for replies? I tried to find it and failed miserably

[-] glassyoghurtsipper@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

I look at the notifications bell for replies if that works for you

[-] ElmiHalt@sopuli.xyz 2 points 11 months ago

Oh, so it's there, thanks!

[-] Lt_Worf@lemmy.ca 5 points 11 months ago
[-] ElmiHalt@sopuli.xyz 2 points 11 months ago

Thanks! P. S. Also now I feel stupid lol

[-] Maultasche@feddit.de 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Is there any app, that won't start from the top when switching between different apps? That's the only thing about Liftoff that kinda annoys me.

[-] Casmael@geddit.social 2 points 11 months ago

I really like this meme template did you invent it in your personal meme laboratory? 🥼 🧪 🧫

[-] twistypencil@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Can you get it into the json fdroid repo?

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Liftoff has been my daily driver for Lemmy after trying all the other Android apps that are available.

I was gonna try Boost thinking it would have been released by now but that ship has sailed. Too used to Liftoff.

[-] Vespair@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago

Honestly I've yet to find Jerboa lacking in anything I need. I'm glad others are finding apps they're satisfied with, but I'm having trouble imagining what could possibly make them notably better than Jerboa?

[-] OtakuAltair@lemm.ee 1 points 11 months ago

Sync is also beautiful. It feels like everything with reddit was just a dream...

[-] crummysocks@lemmy.world -1 points 11 months ago

It's just too ugly. Can't even look at that shit in the eye
