The rhetoric and goal of Hexbar are clear based on their announcement: to “dismantle western propaganda” and "demolish organizations such as NATO” shows that Hexbar has no intention of "respecting the rules of the community instance in which they are posting/commenting.” It’s to push their beliefs and ideology.

lol. lmao even

defederating from nazi instance: takes forever

defederating from socialist instance: does it before federation even starts

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago

lol, people there threw a massive hissy fit when I criticized them for being federated with Nazi and lolicon instances, yet whining about the tankies instead. Now they've finally defederated from exploding-heads after realizing that maybe these Nazis are Nazis, while Hexbear gets pre-eminently blocked because of this statement full of spurious reasoning.

Moralists don't really have beliefs. Sometimes they stumble on one, like on a child's toy left on the carpet. The toy must be put away immediately. And the child reprimanded. Centrism isn't change -- not even incremental change. It is control. Over yourself and the world. Exercise it. Look up at the sky, at the dark shapes of Coalition airships hanging there. Ask yourself: is there something sinister in moralism? And then answer: no. God is in his heaven. Everything is normal on Earth.

Levels of Liberalism even Mao couldn't comprehend.

several concerning statements, as highlighted below:

dismantle western propaganda

lmao telling on themselves.

[–] JuneFall@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago

I hope they purge academics from their website, too, as both academics as well as non Westerners tend to resist western propaganda somewhat.

Lmao, my favorite reply must be the one talking about "muh echo chambers bad" while supporting defederating anything they don't want to hear

The liberal brain is a sight to behold

[–] PorkrollPosadist@hexbear.net 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Like, we literally don't want to be an echo chamber. We didn't CHOOSE to leave Reddit. We CHOSE a federated social media platform with the intent of communicating with other communities. This got derailed for a few years for historical reasons, but the intent was there in the beginning and it is finally being followed through on.

Yeah, the hypocrisy/doublethink/whatever you want to call it is mindnumbing lol

"Creating those kind of fringe echo-chamer instances is how we end up with toxic and extreme groups like SRS"

This lib-ass cracker redditor with 48 updoots is still crying about SRS data-laughing rent free brd

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 0 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

SRS did a massive amount of good on that shithole website. Before SRS it had jailbait, a hundred different pedo subreddits, and gamers still said "haha get raped!" when they killed opponents. It had a significant impact on site culture.

This dumbass obviously opposes the positive changes it brought about though.

[–] john_browns_beard@hexbear.net 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Finding SRS was probably my first step towards radicalization, now that I think about it. I very quickly went from "what is wrong with these people?" to "what is wrong with everyone else on this site?"

[–] LaBellaLotta@hexbear.net 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Not online enough to know what SRS stands for? Enlighten me?

[–] RedHelhest@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

It was the original boogeyman of reddit, SRS stood for shit reddit says and all it did was basically link to racist/sexist/lgbt-phobic posts on other subreddits and people would make fun of the redditor in the comments. This mocking would break their psyche and was an unforgivable sin to all the fragile redditors and they would regularly come into SRS to argue and get mocked even harder. It had a similar vibe to r/chapotraphouse long before that existed but with less of an explicit leftist slant because reddit-logo was just that horrible, even libs could dunk on how shitty they were. It's hilarious that even though its basically a ghost town now this guy is still clutching his pearls about it all these years later.

I was in the process of submitting revisions to the statement on Russia but the part that they took offense to wasn't any of the problems I saw with it, but rather the one part I didn't change that was just like "NATO and the IMF are bad," where I was like, "Perfect, no notes." picard picard-annoyed

"Pushing your beliefs" is inherently against the rules, if those beliefs are critical of NATO. Lemmy.world is explicitly a pro-NATO community where criticism of the organization gets you banned. What a mess.

[–] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I had to reread that part because it was difficult to imagine a community that likes NATO and the IMF. It straight up didn't register to me that the speaker took issue with your statement.

[–] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago

Turns out lemmy.world was really lemmy.globe-emoji
