I've been watching several YouTube videos featuring interviews with people from various constituencies, and there's a common theme among those voting for Reform. They often say, "I can't vote Tory, and I won't vote Labour, so I have no choice but to vote Reform."

This sentiment gives me a strong sense of déjà vu, reminiscent of the confidence among Remainers before Brexit and the optimism of the left in 2015.

Is it possible we could be heading towards a dark timeline with a Tory-Reform coalition?

I think Labour will win a landslide this year, but 2029 (or earlier) will give voters enough time to be frustrated that despite all the talk about change, nothing will in fact change. That plus war on the horizon (literally maybe) and it seems that a right wing government of some description will be in power next. That may be a reform/tory merger of some sort, or it could even be labour lurching even further to the right. Either way, I fear we are headed into dystopia.

There's almost no chance of a Conservative-Reform coalition winning this election. If it did, the opinion polling industry would cease to exist.

Reform won't win enough seats anyway to be part of government because their vote share will be too spread out and that's useless under FPTP.

There will be no difference no matter who gets in. You will get poorer, they will get richer, and we'll continue to backslide further and further right.

I have no obligation to struggle on on your behalf. Nor anyone else.

You'll be pleased to hear I'm fucking off, as you and your ilk love to tell me when I voice my opinion on the state of the country.

Good luck voting your way out of this mess. I'll be back when you guys realise the need for a revolution.

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
