This could be a final. I think the winner of this game takes the trophy.

However, they're tired and had a lot of yellow cards. Their next match will be hard.

Anybody but Spain, please. Lol

Which means they're going to win it all. 😭

Hard to disagree!

How was that not a pen¿? What exactly are the handball rules¿? The hand was not beside the body and blocked a goal bound shot

[-] AchtungDrempels@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah that was strange. Maybe because he was about to put his arm next to his body? But that made him save the shot.

[-] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 week ago

See that logic doesn't make sense to me. If you are late on tackle and hence get the man, it is a foul. We do not say you were trying to make a proper tackle so no foul

[-] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 week ago

From what the commenter say "if the hands are close enough to the body, it's not a hand"

"Close enough"being "not larger than a ball (?)

[-] imaqtpie@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

That was 100% a handball for me. Hand was extended from the body and blocked a shot on target. Cucurella even smirked afterwards, he knew he got away with one.

Absolutely brutal officiating performance tbh. It started when he didn't give a yellow to Kroos in the 5th minute for the tackle that took Pedri out of the game. And then he ended up giving a ton of yellows later on in the game, for dubious reasons. Germany got robbed on that call but Spain still seem like the most deserving team to win the tournament so it's not the worst thing.

If France beats Spain though, then the rage will flow. After benefitting from a missed call and scoring a miraculous goal to avoid penalties, you better make it count

[-] keyez@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I was surprised to not see it called but they could have thought it was natural position, wasn't moving out or up or anything like that but these handball rules are confusing and every game calls get worse and worse.

Can't believe this will not be the final

[-] FlorianSimon@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

I can't believe the ref refused to blow the whistle on that foul so close to Germany's goal. Looked incredibly unfair.

Spain look very threatening when they break or go direct

[-] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

Indeed, Neuer just sweat a bit

[-] khannie@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

His positioning is always perfection though. Experience in action.

[-] khannie@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Good first half. Fouling aside (4 yellows was it!?), really glad to see plenty of solid tackling and people just getting on with it.

Alright so what is your prediction?

I predicted 2-1 for Spain

[-] khannie@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Looking like a very solid prediction right now!!!!

Spain [2] - 1 Germany - Mikel Merino 120'

[-] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 week ago

Damn, even now I thought Germany was going to score

[-] khannie@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Really tidy football so far (fouling aside). Germany just slightly tidier but the Spanish marking is incredible.

edit: How long is it since Neuer's leg break?

[-] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 week ago

Spain 1 - [1] Germany - Florian Wirtz 89'

Top quality football in fairness.

[-] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

Germans are getting nervous

[-] khannie@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Beautiful goal. Beautiful. What a cross. Perfect finish.

[-] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

I thought Olmo was going to put another one right now

Spain should have kept playing, it almost seemed like they stopped for a while

[-] khannie@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Yeah true enough but I more felt Germany kicked it up a gear fearing the worst.

Solid first half of extra time. Nobody's playing for penalties anyway. :D

[-] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

If Spain can't come back, the coach will have to explain why he took both Yamal and Morata out so early in the game

[-] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

Cute to see Yamal and Williams excited

[-] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 week ago

How did fülkrug miss

[-] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

Lots of yellows, curious to see how Spain is going to manage next match

[-] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 week ago

Why the hell has sane started ahead of wirtz

[-] AchtungDrempels@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Amazing header.

[-] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

That was a great match. Frankly Germany had chances at the end especially füllkrug with his free header. Spain took their one big chance in extra time and Germany didn't. That's all that separated the teams at the end
