Microsoft has fixed a known issue causing restart loops and taskbar problems on Windows 11 systems after installing the June KB5039302 preview update.

"This issue was resolved in updates released July 9, 2024 (KB5040442) and later," the company said in an update added to the Windows release health page on Tuesday.

"We recommend you install the latest security update for your device. It contains important improvements and issue resolutions, including this one."

The known issue only impacts systems running Windows 11 23H2 and Windows 11 22H2, with users of Windows Home edition less likely to experience it because virtualization is less common in home environments.

This fix comes after Redmond was forced to pull the update on June 27 after reports that it was causing some Windows devices to restart repeatedly while others failed to start altogether.

And this is why most users should not be opting in to preview updates.

People absolutely swear that running windows update does not trash your computer, but here we are. Yeah it's a preview release but it feels they don't test anything.

To be clear, you’re complaining that a Microsoft test update identified a bug and that bug was fixed prior to the update being rolled out to most users. This is literally what the test system is for.

Indeed, I did qualify my statement as such. But an example for the non testing update release: windows update pushing out bad bios firmware updates to HP computers bricking them this last week, another breaking vpns, and a security updates contributing/causing bsods.

Yeah MS has a mixed record for sure. This proves the system does work though, even if it’s not 100% effective

In Windows 11 Microsoft made it quite clear, you are the testers. Updates are forced on home users, not corps. Corps get the updates after home users get them all force pushed and field test them.

My surface with windows 11 has been hot trash. So many unfixed bugs. Dism, sfc, etc say everything is ok. Lol.

Most Video Games work on Linux these days.

Anti-Cheat software is usually still a problem though due to their invasiveness that cannot be handled easily.

Someone at Microsoft decided to put bunch of crap ware inside windows & make it unusable, very classic windows...very classic ways to make your OS hated by everyone same like vista
