Life is so miserable in China they have to eat high protein nutritious diets just to cope, god and Jesus please deliver these people from the wicked evil of the CCP.

Chinese people are being forced to eat protein instead of 5000 ice cream scoops everyday

[-] dditty@lemm.ee 6 points 3 months ago

Why bother with 5000 ice cream scoops when I can just drink one DQ Moolatte

but are they getting enough essential vitamins like high fructose corn syrup?

[-] goferking0 23 points 3 months ago

Nah they're increasing it in a healthy way. But will drive Americans crazy cause it's more plant based than meat

While China has previously pulled ahead of the US in a range of living standard measures – including life expectancy, healthcare insurance coverage, high-speed rail and 5G – the challenge to outpace American agriculture has been far steeper.

Hmmm

healthcare insurance coverage

hadn't realized about this one, that's pretty cool and I think happened in the last four years (dug into back in 2019 and I don't think this claim was made)

I have a deja vu, almost like I've read a similar report from cia from 50 years ago

[-] WalrusDragonOnABike@lemmy.today 13 points 3 months ago

The average American is about 80,000g. At 70% muscle, perhaps 55,000g of protein is a decent estimate of the protein in an American.

How often is the average Chinese national eating more than an American worth of protein. Per year? That would be like 150g/day. That seems pretty excessive unless like they're a body builder. If its in their lifetime, that's like 2g/day and way too little.

Wonderful! We're about to have CIA propaganda start advocating for veganism!

Is "protein" in this article an euphemism for "meat" like usual in the us? Why do you do that? There are other sources of protein you know...

[-] LeninsBeard@hexbear.net 25 points 3 months ago

No, the first paragraph of the article lays if out pretty clearly. Also this website is literally chinese so weird time to try to dunk on Americans.
