The idea makes me uncomfortable and I can't explain why

One way or another it's gonna taste like something, might as well not just be "plastic and rubber" flavored.

[-] safesyrup@lemmy.hogru.ch 39 points 4 months ago

Yeah why not and if it‘s only a faint flavour to cover the plastic taste i imagine its pretty enjoyable

Also, its marketed as a children's mouth guard so it probably helps them want to wear it. Not a parent though, so I have no idea.

Or old spit from the last time. Got to remember to clean mine today

[-] person420@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 4 months ago

I can't help but clean mine after every use. It's like the first thing I do when I get home, right before a shower.

"Mmm, strawberry daqueri!"

These mouth guards are flavored?

PFAS-flavored? 😏

As a former teacher of younger kids, that feature probably makes them 10x less likely to be forgotten/lost. (The size is "youth 10-") Agree it's kinda gross, but kids are wired differently.

Growing up we were on a swim team and my brother would chew on his goggle straps while waiting for a race. My parents bought us some flavored goggle straps lol. I think they were blueberry flavor...

Goggles aren't even something designed to go in your mouth like a mouth guard, but I guess they knew kids chewed on them so why not

hides the strawberry lube

Yeah man, really weird.

[-] Cethin@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 months ago

You should use the strawberry lube with peanut butter flavored condoms.

When I played flag football in elementary school we were required to wear a mouth guard but we didn't have these fancy things. So what we did was put pre-sweetened Kool-Aid mix in them and now it's no wonder so many of us developed bad teeth.

Isn't it ironic?

My retainer when I was a kid was flavored, too. Though I only had two choices. Bubblegum and medicinal grape. I opted for the grape.

microplastic efficiency that

[-] atrielienz@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

They make gloves for dentists that are flavored too. It's weird but I don't think it's uncomfortable making. To each his own I guess.

[-] Pantsofmagic@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Is this why Matt Tkachuk is always passionately chewing on his instead of using it for its intended purpose?

[-] Passerby6497@lemmy.world -2 points 4 months ago

I feel like that would help rot your teeth.....

[-] crusty@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 months ago

I seriously doubt there's any sugar in it

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?
