This is incredibly stupid, even from a non-vegan perspective. God damn Contra really never did care about anything other than herself from the beginning, did she?

[–] alcoholicorn@hexbear.net 3 points 3 years ago (1 children)

How do you even come up with "tofu has no texture"?

It comes in 4+ textures, and each can take on at least 4 new textures depending on how you cook it.

eating a brick of firm tofu right out the wrapper in the grocery store and being like "this shit kinda bland"

[–] BigLadKarlLiebknecht@hexbear.net 3 points 3 years ago (2 children)

I’m British and I can make tofu taste good, what the fuck is wrong with her

[–] SolidaritySplodarity@hexbear.net 3 points 3 years ago (1 children)

lol I eat way tastier food as a vegan because I had to learn to cook. That includes tofu.

Always has been.

Now we can look forward to a 4 hour video essay where she compares people criticizing this tweet to the Romanovs getting shot.

[–] DirtbagVegan@hexbear.net 3 points 3 years ago

Getting mildly criticized on twitter.

she compares people criticizing this tweet to the Romanovs getting shot

Rightly so, they're both awesome things.

Tofu doesn't even have to be a meat replacement, it's a good and important ingredient in its own right

[–] Wildgrapes@hexbear.net 2 points 3 years ago

Absolutely. If I'm eating tofu it's because I want tofu not because I secretly want to eat chicken or some shit.

[–] RainbowDash@hexbear.net 2 points 3 years ago

I'm vegan but ngl I'm raging at this persons shit palate. Tell me you're an American that can only eat beige without saying it

[–] Hoodoo@hexbear.net 2 points 3 years ago

There are more varieties of fruits and vegetables on Earth than any one person could ever eat in a lifetime.

But I guess that still counts as deprivation!

I like tofu. It's great in pad thai, stir fry, tofu scrambles are pretty dope too. Like it isn't exactly an obscure vegan thing, there are a ton of common east Asian dishes that incorporate it and are all pretty good. Contrapoints is also someone that would know that, not like she's from a small town that wouldn't have a decent Thai or Chinese place. This feels purely to get a rise out of people, especially that needlessly aggressive last tweet.

not like she’s from a small town that wouldn’t have a decent Thai or Chinese place.

Ouch. This feels needlessly classist.

[–] Dirtbag@hexbear.net 2 points 3 years ago

How is small towns not having a ton of restaurants classist lol

[–] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 1 points 3 years ago

It's classist to eat at very inexpensive restaurants.

"If I can't have treats this aint my revolution"

[–] Krem@hexbear.net 1 points 3 years ago

It's the 21st century and there are still people out there, in major western cities even, with access to all the wonderful foods the world has to offer, there are still people eating literal body parts like it's the iron age or some apocalyptic fan fiction scenario.

"Hi I'm a major youtubist and I can choose to eat anything in the world. I will eat the snout off a pig's face every day and be smug about it."

[–] geikei@hexbear.net 1 points 3 years ago* (last edited 3 years ago)

Not that she doesnt have a mountain of shitty takes by this point but are people in the left still supporting contra points after the "uhmm sweety actualy communism and revolutions happen and are pushed because the poors envy the rich" thing

[–] Lundi@hexbear.net 1 points 3 years ago

When you don't know how to cook.

[–] jabrd@hexbear.net 1 points 3 years ago

This reads like a JBP bit

You know what is entirely tasteless and has a texture so bad, it is practically inedible on its own? Wheat flour.

[–] RootVegetable@hexbear.net 0 points 3 years ago (1 children)

I find it impossible to believe that anyone actually likes meat. What do you like about it, the inedible gristle or the risk of foodborne illness?

[–] Hoodoo@hexbear.net 0 points 3 years ago (1 children)

They season the shit out of it. Otherwise it's bland, oily, and unpleasant to eat.

[–] sagarmatha@hexbear.net 0 points 3 years ago (1 children)

nsfv

spoiler___my dad eats it raw with just salt and pepper so it can be done

[–] Hoodoo@hexbear.net 1 points 3 years ago* (last edited 3 years ago) (1 children)

Just the two most popular seasonings on the planet, huh?

:jesus-christ:

[–] videogame@hexbear.net 1 points 3 years ago

Yeah but you use salt and pepper on all foods so it's not exactly giving meat the advantage here
