That's an impressively designed bit of kit.
Guess I have to go barter with the architecture department to use their 3d printer...

It's so cool I want to die 😩. I would never use it but it looks great.
Drop a SIM card in there and you’re not far off from a modern version of PDAs from back when pocket tech was interesting.
Not for calling of course. Text only (although everyone texts over the internet now - maybe for data as well).
Why not Calling? BT Headphone are quite good at calls
I think I just like the retrofuturism of “giga pager”. Of course calling would work but it would be besides the point for me.
A modern phone could do everything this would be used for on a day-to-day.
BT headphones
Or a jack of some description, wires are always better for calls
I saw a wrist mounted thing the other day, and I was thinking a modern touchscreen version running Linux could legitimately be great with a good mount. This would be perfect for that. You only need a wrist mount that won't make your arm sweaty...
is it touchscreen? looks great
Yes, it's a touchscreen.
cool, is it compatible with different DEs?
Get out of here!
(Edit: Yes, of course. It's Linux.)
Well, this goes on the old birthday wishlist... Awesome stuff!
I kinda want one of these.

Nice idea, using 2 batteries instead of one. Now to see if it can be hot-swappable
For the clockwork pi uConsole, which is a similar product and also uses two batteries, that seems to be the case
@kde@floss.social @soulscircuit @kde@lemmy.kde.social omg I can imagine that becoming a perfect DJing computer paired with Mixxx and a Pioneer controller
I was thinking this would be a otg deck for traveling. Adding ports galore (hdmi,dp etc) and being fully cast ready - you could dock it anywhere and take everything with you in a small form factor. Working in handheld mode on the plane, then casting/hooking to your hotel room tv with a BT keeb would be a dream. Given the customization inherent, this could blow Samsung Dex out of the water.
@kde@floss.social @soulscircuit @kde@lemmy.kde.social that keyboard, complete with the laser pointer button, looks very familiar! Nice job squeezing it into a new housing. The trackball too 👀
@kde@floss.social @soulscircuit @kde@lemmy.kde.social "what is the difference of pilet and consolo?
consolo was the project’s codename. moving forward, it will be known as pilet. this change reflects our commitment to appeal to a wider global audience."
I'm failing to see how "pilet" is any more or less appealing to a wider global audience than "consolo", am I missing something?
@bamboombibbitybop "consolo" is near the word "console" but in some languages it means "confort", but is also, and more importantly, a vulgarism for "dildo". So "pilet" (I guess as in "support for a structure") is much better for marketing.

@kde@floss.social @soulscircuit @kde@lemmy.kde.social "this action is not allowed." So much for following...
@the_turtle @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social Thank you for letting me know. Could you please try again? I’ve checked the server, and everything appears to be running smoothly on our end. If the problem persists, please provide more info about your browser and platform
@kde@floss.social @soulscircuit @kde@lemmy.kde.social Perhaps I am mistaken but in the image representative of the final product, one can see the navigation bar similar to that of #Plasma mobile.
Oh, you're right! I was wondering why this was in KDE (despite being very cool) But on zooming in I see Dolphin and the Plasma navbar.
@kde@floss.social @soulscircuit @kde@lemmy.kde.social when I, Gnomian, can love Plasma :raspberrypi:
Imagine bringing a calculator to school but it turns out its just an entire desktop 😭
@kde@floss.social @soulscircuit @kde@lemmy.kde.social I guess I will be buying Skyrim yet again… sigh.

I'm not even sure what I'd use this for, but I want one
I wonder if that keyboard is via a wired interface only. Because something like that would be perfect for a Pico W or ESP32 so that it works detatched. I think this would be great on a desk with a kickstand and the keyboard detatched. There might even be some pins leftover for a "wireless" GPIO header on the keyboard, which would be really cool if you were using the included VESA mount for the tablet
