HTC announced that its Vive Ultimate Tracker is now compatible with third-party PC VR headsets that support SteamVR.

Originally developed for the Vive Focus 3 and Vive XR Elite, Vive Ultimate Tracker is a puck-like device that comes equipped with two cameras, allowing it to track its position without external devices or base stations, supporting both object and full-body tracking.

Released last November for $200, Vive Ultimate Tracker is now compatible with SteamVR headsets, which includes tethered PC VR headsets such as Valve Index, but also standalone devices capable of connecting to PCs, such as Quest 3 or Pico Pico 4 Ultra

is this for only wireless tracking?

been trying to get my original vive headset to work on linux but can't get past the tracking. I'm not buying a new headset

It's HTC, the trackers probably need some sketch software to work. Also, what VR runtime are you using for your vive?

it's probably because I'm on linux and the nvidia drivers aren't working as they should. steamVR opens and registers the hardware turned on but nothing connects.

lvra.gitlab.io is a great source of info for linux VR. VR wont work on gnome wayland 46 and earlier, so that could be your issue.

I'd love to get these for my HP Reverb G2, but with this headset being discontinued, I'll probably wait to see what the new non-Mera hotness is after the holiday buying season dies down.

This is amazing news. A company ran by humans and not some corpo freak that wants to plunder money while simultaneously killing the planet and the products they just made in an attemp to sell their v2 garbage.

I might actually consider moving on from my Oculus rift (pre Facebook trash)
