  • Brush: Wald Stratos Goldvein 29mm A1 Fan

  • Razor: Tanifuji Spalding 0411 6/8" Full Hollow

  • Lather: Los Jabones de Joserra - Blas de Lezo - Soap

  • Toner: Thayers - Rose - Toner

  • Aftershave: Noble Otter - Cerberus - Aftershave

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Blas de Lezo is my second soap from Los Jabones de Joserra aka Jose Martinez. Like Noir, which I tried a couple of days ago, the scent of Blas de Lezo becomes much more complex and sophisticated once the soap is wet and fully lathered. The scent has accords of oak wood, smoke, tobacco, leather and liquor. I mean. What's not to love!

The soap base is low-structure, but very slick. There are several oils in it; including an apricot oil. A very easy lather to use for a straight shaver.

Interestingly, Blas de Lezo is was a Spanish Naval officer who lost an eye, a hand, mobility of one arm, and a leg. He was the real-life Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Let's settle for a draw, then.

I've seen Johann from S&B have good things to say about Noir - maybe I should test this once as well

Tis but a scratch.

Yes I saw Johan use Noir. I have that too. Also a very interesting scent. Actually, a little darker/warmer in scent than Blas de Lezo. I won't be letting go of either of these.

Los Jabones de Joserra seems to have such interesting scents. I’d love to try some of their soaps one day.

Maybe I’ll see about finding some samples when I have a bit of space for more soap

Space is a huge problem after a while :) I certainly haven't solved it.

Damnit! That does sound delightful. Too many things to try

Oh, I hear you! As you have demonstrated, Cerberus pretty much complements anything.

  • Brush: Maggard 24mm 2 Band Badger
  • Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable (I-2)
  • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (Germany) (4)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Oro Valley - Soap
  • Post Shave: Pinaud - Clubman Special Reserve - Aftershave

Wonderful shave. This knot was relatively inexpensive (I think I actually got it for something like $10 from an artisan who was trying to get rid of some extraneous stuff), but it feels really nice. It doesn't have any gel, but it's good and soft while still letting you feel that something is there. I typically prefer the Maggard Silvertip to this one, but it depends on the day.

Oro Valley is such a lovely scent for the fall.

  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Beloved - Soap
  • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Hallows - Splash
  • Fragrance: Hermès - Terre d’Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver - Eau de Parfum

Mon Oct 14 2024

  • Brush: Zenith r/Wetshaving exclusive MOAR BADGER (Silvertip)
  • Razor: Wade & Butcher The Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor (5/8")
  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original

I got this W&B with completely busted scales but otherwise in good condition a couple years ago and fitted it with these pretty Ralf Aust horn scales. Like yesterday's W&B wedge, this hollow ground has that soft feeling edge. Very nice.

Hmm posting replies seems iffy with gem.

Anyway. Nice razor you gone full straight now DJ?

Yeah there's an annoying thing where sometimes you have to select the language from the drop-down box. We have one language option here, "undetermined".

So far you've found 2 annoying things with the new front end. You should be a professional bug finder.

[-] enndeegee@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 2 months ago

One day maybe

[-] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 1 points 2 months ago

Thanks!

Not full straight, I suppose, but $FriodomRiders + &HoneMeisterschaft AA, Straightember, and TabOKtoberfest are three consecutive straight razor months, that's the rules 😅

  • Brush: Omega - 10048 boar
  • Razor: Rockwell - 6C (R4 + R2 plate)
  • Blade: Astra - Superior Platinum (2)
  • Lather: Stirling - Autumn Glory
  • Post: Osma alum block
  • Post: Nivea - Sensitive Post Shave Balm
  • Post: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber AS splash
  • Frag: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber EdP

First shave with my Autumn Glory sample, and I quite enjoyed it. I get notes of wet leaves, apple cider, and wet earth.

As always the lather was great. I still hold that Stirling performs best with a boar brush.

Have a good one all!

SSL

Zenith red 27mm boat

And DJs favourite. Durham duplex. (The pretty one. )

How'd I add images here?

[-] walden@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I hadn't noticed that until you mentioned it. https://gem.wetshaving.social doesn't have an image button. Weird.

You can upload directly to our server, no need for imgur etc., but you might have to stick to https://sub.wetshaving.social or a phone app or whatever else you prefer.

[-] enndeegee@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 2 months ago

Ok. I'll remember for Wednesday. It's the pretty de style aluminum duplex. Pity the blades are shite

[-] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 2 months ago

You didn't get Semaj's dog grooming blades, did you?

[-] enndeegee@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 2 months ago

I'm not a monster. Hair shaper blades but I do have a couple of wrapped OG blades I may unbox

I smell an AA challenge - or is this the scent of moist dog?

[-] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 2 months ago

Lol, the #ThrillKiller challenge, when you want to get out of Wetshaving the hard way
