Because nothing compares to it really. The polish, the UI, the UX, plus the developer ljdawson is an awesome bloke who listens to his users, as he's shown time and again. So, I'm happy to support a dev like that.
Try also Infinity nightly. I am also a fan of Sync. But, imho infinity is really good.
Same but with Jerboa. I think it actually was the only Android app on the store when I signed up

Using Connect as well. It has many of the features that I missed from my previous client. The developer is very active and interacts with the community.
I tried them all. The ones i liked most were infinity for lemmy, sync and voyager. Infinity is great, but still feels a bit unfinished. And voyager, this is my opinion, is better than sync. So, I've settled on voyager.
I main Voyager, Summit, Connect and Sync (pretty much that is not what main means but whatever), and I can tell you, having Apollo on Android was my never fulfilled dream... Now with Voyager it is... Regardless, even with all the awesome updates and the love that devs puts into it, still feels like a web app transformed to an Android app (because it is I guess), and it can do weird things often.
Compared to others, especially Sync and Summit you can notice it is not really smooth.
And yet, it is my second favorite (the first is Sync), because even with its simplicity is so fucking awesome and at the same time feels complete!
Try infinity nightly.
I have the beta versions of Mlem, Memmy, Voyager, Thunder, and Avelon. My favorite has been Thunder so far because it has a unique UI and it doesn't look like just a different variation of the same layout, like the others listed. I have a special exception for Avelon because it can load/embed videos and gifs within the app without opening the in-app browser, and it's the only app among the ones I tested that can do that.
Jerboa. Minimalistic, FOSS and is from the official Lemmy devs.
Sync as I've been using it for years on Reddit

Ads or paying $20 on sync is a bit of a joke
Went from Connect > Sync > Connect - sync was smoother but not $20 smoother
I use infinity because I used infinity for Reddit before and also because it's FOSS and had no ads
I second infinity, it is great!
I've tried most all I can find on Android and I keep going back to connect. I think I'm just used to it and I think it looks better than most.
Switched to Avelon because it looks/feels better than memmy
I'm using Thunder, to give me that Relay for Reddit experience.
Liftoff. I used Jerboa originally but it wasn't super stable when I started. I also tried Connect which I liked but I simply preferred the UI of Liftoff more.
Jerboa because it made by official dev of lemmy.
I use Jerboa. I was so confused at first because it has "Reddit" in its description and I thought it was an open source third-party Reddit client.
Wefwef so far because it looks like Apollo
I roll jerboa, was the only app when I signed up, have tried all of them a decent amount now, but jerboa is my preference!
Someone told me Jerboa was very similar to RIF, and I've found that to be true.
I use my mobile browser so I can open tabs to read or share later.
I am using connect too. I used Liftoff before, it is pretty good too, but I think connect has a better UI. Arctius is even nicer in UI, but is missing some features.
I recommend as daily driver Liftoff and connect for now π
I use infinity when it works and displays images and connect when it doesn't.
Avelon and Mlem.
Edit: And Arctic.
All three of them are native iOS Swift apps.
Liftoff. The UI isn't anything to write home about, but it has the best features for managing multiple accounts across different instances out of all that I've tried by far.
Memmy because Iβm a Apollo refugee and this is close-ish
I use Liftoff because jerboa wasn't working when lemmy.world didn't update to 0.18, i tried a few others but i finally decided to keep using this one.
I just type in the URL.
