It's nazis turning on nazis. I don't care who wins, I just care that they decimate each other so this invasion stops before the potential outcome of Trump ending up back in office.

I think most of the west is hoping they will hurt each other enough that Ukraine can take over...
IIRC a large enough portion are also prisoners that get pardoned if they help with the war effort. (obviously can't run away/desert though.)
