Inspection went fine! Actually had the senior PM come, instead of the newbie from last time. Senior PM said newbie was wrong about the law regarding downlights, lol, and that it does in fact require an electrician that the RE will send out to change πŸ˜‚ newbie told us it's the tenants responsibility, but didn't realise the difference between a screw in bulb and downlights LOL!

so after a year of not having kitchen lights, and six months of not having a normal bathroom one, the RE is gonna get that fixed for us. Senior PM apologised profusely and said we weren't the only tenants that were given the incorrect info either.

I couldn't stop laughing! I'm not even mad πŸ˜‚

Had to attend an emergency meeting with the CTO of a client and explain why we fucked up without any forewarning.

Phone interview went well. Have a teams interview on Friday!!

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Yikes! As in your side of the fence didn't give you any heads up? I'd be demanding an answer as to why that's appropriate from your boss.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 8 points 4 months ago (4 children)

Bingo. And man, that guy was really fucking pissed off.

There's no point getting accountability. Some people here have a halo and can do no wrong.

Fingers crossed for the new role.

Big work meeting this afternoon. I mean BIG, there's a lot on the line. I'm as prepared as I can be and a bit more prep this morning. I was feeling super nervous about it yesterday. Calmer on waking up this morning but the nerves are coming back. Deep breaths help - I will be fine, it will go fine.

Meeting over! 2.5 hours later, I'm so exhausted. There was a few times I felt like I was giving garbled answers to questions asked on the spot, and also being in full focus for that long is pretty tough. But overall I think I presented and communicated well. Client seemed happy too so that's what counts.

I think I deserve a takeaway pizza tonight and a night off any cooking.

[–] Pilk@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Wait is it pizza night on the DT? Because I'm down to celebrate alongside you.

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago

Literally just had left over pizza lol - I think it is pizza night!! 🀀

I laugh everytime I see a post on AustralianSpiders, where OP posts a picture of a black spider with a red stripe and asks "iS tHiS a ReDbAcK????"

The clue is in the name, my guy πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

And yes, it was, and she's gravid - enjoy OP! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

About 6kg of cherries have now been picked. Probably that much again left on the tree if I was feeling enthusiastic enough to pick them.

Now I need to work out what to do with them - they are cooking cherries (morello), not sweet eating cherries. I'll probably just pit & freeze them for now and do some baking later.

I'm just fucking exhausted. That's all. I go to bed exhausted, wake up too early, exhausted.

I bought two punnets of lettuce seedlings. They seem to do well for me and we eat them up. Other garden stuff is doing well too. Mostly tidying really.

and the young Seagoons will be coming to Australia in 10 days to stay with us πŸ™‚ I better get everything ready. So excite.

Some good points in this video about the social media ban https://aussie.zone/post/15770886

Cherries are all pitted and in the freezer.

Lots of cherry pits

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago

Basil has been trimmed and moved into it's new pots. The one at the front doesn't look to have a good root system, which is why it is trimmed so much - I won't be surprised if it just dies anyway. The other two had good healthy roots, so I expect big things from them! The trimmed leaves have been chopped up and frozen in oil in ice cube trays.

My manager said I'm good to work from home this week until my ankle heals up. It's the sort of thing that puts you in that weird spot where I can work but I can't deal with the hassle of getting to the office.

I'll arrange a tele-appointment to get an x-ray referral just to make sure nothing's wrong as it still hurts

Finished S3 of the Taskmaster Australia. Really grown fond of the show was looking forward towards S4. Found out that David Hughes will be on it, and it's completely killed my excitement for it.

[–] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

David Hughes is a hard no from me. It's not just the voice, it's also the general attitude. He's a cutterdown, not a lifterup and I'm too old to bother with that shit. Reminds me too much of those dreadful US tv sitcoms that play in pizza parlours. A theatre of casual cruelty, not even comedy/tragedy, punctuated with insane mechanical laughter.

::: spoiler The patch

:::

Seems like being away for a month didn't impact shit too heavily. No ferts in the last month either and the watering seems alright with no drama / edema. Phew.

That piece of mind the watering sys. gives is priceless.

Also saw about a dozen ladybugs so aphids are a non issue (for now).

Lots of smaller self sown chilli plants from last year just popping up now was a nice surprise.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago

tbh this was the best time to be away, it's sunny / raining / sunny / raining so the garden needs very little intervention if you've got your soil right

Many extremely nervous presenters at this conference. Buck up people you have really interesting things to say!!

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Morning plans: mow grass. remove excessive amount of fennel from the front garden. plant some volunteer cherry tomato seedlings along the front fence. pot up some basil plants from the supermarket in the hope they can regrow. somewhere in there I should do washing too.

Edit: I need to add "pick cherries" to the list.
