The Israel Prison Service says it is taking measures to prevent any “public displays of joy” when Palestinian prisoners are released as part of the Gaza ceasefire deal.

The escort from ‘Shikma’ Prison will not be handled by civilian buses of the [International Committee of the] Red Cross,” the statement says.

Instead “special units” from the prison service would handle transport, the statement says.

Yakobi also tells prisoners earmarked for release to “refrain from expressions of joy within Israel.”

For those who dont know. 2 years ago, when IDF killed a USA journalist, they went and attacked people during her funeral

“Israeli police attack funeral procession for shot journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh”

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/may/13/israeli-forces-storm-jerusalem-hospital-as-coffin-of-slain-journalist-emerges

They also attacked people celebrating their kid release during the first cease fire last year.

Israel is a nazi state.

Yup, and when they killed her she was wearing a Press vest.

Israelis are fucking war criminals.

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 13 points 6 months ago

And the state department is still waiting for Israel to investigate themselves on that one. And any subsequent crimes.

“refrain from expressions of joy within Israel.”

was there any chance of that in the first place?

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 14 points 6 months ago

I mean they're being freed from prison so yeah.

Disgusting fascists. I won't even insult the porcine persuasion by associating their kind with these fascists.

The sign of the good guys: being against joy.

That's how you know you're living your life right.

When you hate joy.

I've seen a mob of a dozen 2-year-olds at a birthday party behaving more maturely and humanely than this, what the hell...

IMO don't link directly to "Times of Israel", use an archiver link.

They know they lost the war, and they’re trying to hide it.

This isn't a new thing. It's not the first time they've prohibited people from celebrating their loved ones' release. That's a regular practice on their part. The folks (often kids at time of capture) they let go are also typically dehydrated and emaciated.

[–] anas@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago

That’s the point, any hostage they have to release is a defeat.

I'm not religious, but this reminds me of that vision in the Christian bible where they kill everyone who's not sad enough: Hesekiel 9,4
